Job summary

PermitFlow, an applied AI company in New York, is hiring a Principal Engineer to own the evolution of our architecture and platform. The role spans the entire stack, from infrastructure to product code, with the goal of doubling output while raising quality.

You will lead patterns, monorepo design for agents, and drive migrations across teams. The ideal candidate has deep code architecture experience, works agent-first today, and has shipped foundations adopted by others.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience with technical leadership across multiple teams.
• Deep expertise in code architecture and platform engineering.
• Experience shipping agent-first or AI-assisted developer tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of the codebase, set patterns, module boundaries, and domain abstractions.
• Design the monorepo for agents, structure packages, ownership, and build graph.
• Build the platform substrate: shared services, infrastructure, data access, environments, observability.
