Job summary

ProAmpac - Buffalo is seeking a Plate Technician for the 1st shift on a on-site Buffalo, NY site. The role is a temp-to-direct hire position with hours Monday through Friday, starting around 6:30 AM and ending around 2:45 PM.

Compensation is $19 per hour, with a full benefits package offered. The technician will mount plates onto printing cylinders or sleeves to ensure correct color registration per work orders, following safety and quality guidelines and coordinating with the Shift Supervisor

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Some experience making plates is desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, write reports and speak before groups.
• Basic math skills including ratios and percentages.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and read job work orders.
• Collect cylinders for each job and mount print plates on cylinders by color, ensuring correct registration.
• Troubleshoot problems to prevent press downtime.
• Discuss the production schedule with Shift Supervisor.
• Complete paperwork and check for errors to ensure quality.

Description

We are hiring! We are in need of a Plate Technician on 1 st shift. Hours are Monday – Friday 630AM to 245PM. This is a Temp to Direct hire position. The Plate Mounter Technician is responsible for accurately mounting plates onto printing cylinders or sleeves so that the colors, as designated by the individual work order, go into the correct register for the presses.

Rate: $19 / hour.

Hours: Monday - Friday 645AM to 2:45PM

Job Responsibilities:

• Obtain and read job work orders.
• Collect cylinders for each job and strip sticky back, mount print plates on cylinders by color, and ensure all cylinders are correctly mounted and locked in place by interpreting and following quality and safety instructions, comparing different items, and coordinating activities.
• Solve problems and correct errors by detecting details, analyzing information, measuring and making calculations, reading manuals and instructions, researching problems, and using judgment.
• Discuss the production schedule with Shift Supervisor.
• Troubleshoot problems to prevent press downtime.
• Complete paperwork and check for paper-proof errors to ensure high quality by following work order instructions.
• Keep the work area clean and stocked.
• Maintain work area per food safety requirements.
• Perform special projects as assigned.

Job requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent education.
• Some experience making plates is desirable.
• Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills to work effectively with Mounting Department personnel.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals, write reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups of customers or fellow employees.
• Ability to do basic math: add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to understand and carry out detailed written or oral instructions and handle problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
• Some knowledge of flexographic packaging is preferred to ensure printing plates are correctly mounted to prevent press downtime.
• Must be willing and able to work overtime when required.
