Job summary

United Pipeline Systems, Inc. is seeking a Plastics Engineer to lead rotational lining operations and optimize manufacturing processes for high-quality thermoplastic-lined pipe and components.

You will collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve cycle time, throughput, and product performance. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3–7+ years of plastics processing experience, with hands-on rotational molding expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–7+ years of experience in plastics processing or manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on experience with rotational molding/lining and thermoplastic processing.
• Strong understanding of thermoplastic material behavior and processing temperatures.
• Ability to develop process parameters, troubleshoot defects, and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering ownership and day-to-day technical support for the rotational lining machine and process.
• Develop, document, and optimize rotational lining parameters including temperature profiles and speeds.
• Establish process windows and standards for consistent lining thickness and surface quality.
• Troubleshoot defects, identify variation sources, and drive corrective actions.
• Analyze material properties and thermal history to improve finished lining performance.
• Work with production leadership to improve cycle time, throughput, and OEE.
• Support equipment design, modification, and instrumentation improvements.
• Coordinate with maintenance to define preventive maintenance and calibration needs.
• Develop and maintain process documentation and inspection criteria.
• Lead root-cause investigations using FMEA, SPC, DOE, and Lean methods.
• Support development of new lined products and process improvements.
• Provide technical training to operators and maintenance staff.
• Regular site visits and travel as required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering or related field

3–7+ years of experience in plastics processing/manufacturing

Hands-on experience with rotational molding/lining equipment

Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills

Excellent technical documentation and communication
