Job summary

University of California - San Francisco is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to support Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, providing pre- and post-operative care, patient education, and coordination with faculty and residents across multiple UCSF Health locations.

You will manage in-office procedures, tissue expansion, implants, and dressing changes, while delivering safe therapeutic care and maintaining strong collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Two years of recent RN experience in Plastic Surgery or surgical ambulatory patient care.
• Experience with ambulatory nursing clinical triage.
• Epic training as it relates to APeX used at UCSF Medical Center.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
• Current healthcare provider BLS CPR certification.
• Prior work with Transgender Community and Pediatrics.
• Experience with Cosmetic products such as Botox, Juvaderm, and Fillers.
• Knowledge or working experience with Lasers as it relates to Plastic Surgery.
• Knowledge and coordination of pre and post-operative care relating to Plastic Surgery.
• The flexibility to orient and work in all UCSF Health locations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge and abilities essential to stated behaviors.
• Cary out legal responsibilities within the Nurse Practice Act.
• Establish pre and post-operative care protocols with faculty.
• Assist faculty and residents with clinics and patient care including in-office minor surgical procedures, tissue expansion, dressing changes, and suturing.
• Obtain supplies and equipment for procedures.
• Provide telephone triage for patients with complications and notify physicians.
• Initiate and process emergency admissions as needed.
• Maintain files of patients requiring skilled nursing facility home care and prescription refills.
• Maintain close working relationship with administrative staff to meet patient and faculty needs.
• Coordinate with operating room staff to ensure supplies, equipment, and medications are available.
• Maintain list of pending surgeries for implants, tissue expanders, and implants.
• Provide pre- and post-op photos as needed.
• Maintain and order clinical supplies and forms for office.
• Handle purchasing, stocking, data entry and bookkeeping for injectables and skin care products.
• Inform residents of pre-op workups, transfers and schedule changes.
• Provide information to potential patients regarding UCSF procedures.
