Job summary

Pretium Packaging in Bethlehem, PA, is seeking a production operator to own the precision setup and smooth operation of injection molding assets in a high-output, safety-first environment. You will focus on changeovers, quality, and uptime while adhering to GMP and food safety practices.

This full-time role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to troubleshoot, and the discipline to document process changes during 12-hour shifts on a busy production floor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–2 years in manufacturing or production.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshootability.
• Basic reading of written instructions and specs.
• Plastics or packaging background is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and fine-tune production equipment to meet goals.
• Perform tooling changeovers and line start-ups.
• Conduct inspections and document process changes.
• Maintain material levels and housekeeping.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE.
• Support overtime, plant shutdowns, and trainings.
• Uphold food safety and quality procedures.
• Restore sanitary conditions to product contact surfaces after maintenance/production.

Core responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and fine-tune production equipment to meet goals and specifications
• Perform tooling changeovers, line start-ups, and first-article verification
• Execute routine adjustments and preventative maintenance; promptly report mechanical issues
• Collaborate with outgoing shift to review equipment status and performance
• Conduct inspections, document process changes, and resolve product defects
• Maintain raw material levels and uphold housekeeping standards
• Follow safety procedures, wear required PPE, and participate in safety initiatives
• Support overtime, plant shutdowns, special projects, and required trainings
• Food safety and quality
• Monitor and verify compliance with food safety, GMP, and quality procedures
• Restore sanitary conditions to product contact surfaces after maintenance/production
• Accurately complete all required food safety and quality documentationImmediately escalating food safety, quality, or process concernsResponsible for food safety, food quality, and site safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• 1–2 years in manufacturing, machine operation, or production preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude; capable troubleshooter; basic computer literacy
• Comfort reading and following written instructions and specifications
• Preferred: plastics or packaging background, prior machine set-ups/changeovers, experience in fast-paced production

Physical requirements

• Lift/carry up to 50 lbs frequently
• Stand/walk on concrete for extended periods
• Bend, stoop, twist, reach, push, and pull throughout shift
• Hands-on work with tools, equipment, materials
• Ability to work a 12-hour schedule
• Close vision for inspection and quality checks

Work environment

• Active production floor with moving equipment
• Moderate to high noise (hearing protection required)
• Temperature variations typical of manufacturing
• Exposure to plastics manufacturing processes
