Job summary

COFICAB Americas in Garrettsville, Ohio, seeks a Plastic Extrusion Operator to set up, run, and monitor extrusion lines for insulated and jacketed copper cables. You will ensure product quality and production efficiency while adhering to safety and environmental standards.

You will load raw materials, control temperatures and line speeds, perform start-ups and changeovers, take thickness measurements, and conduct routine quality checks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical or vocational training in manufacturing or industrial processes preferred.
• 1–3 years extrusion experience preferred.
• Experience in wire and cable manufacturing strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of plastic processing and extrusion equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate plastic extrusion lines for wire and cable manufacturing.
• Monitor extrusion parameters: temperature, pressure, line speed, and material flow.
• Load and handle raw materials such as PVC, PE, XLPE, TPU, and other insulation or jacketing compounds.
• Perform start-up, changeover, and shutdown procedures safely and efficiently.
• Measure and verify insulation and jacket thickness according to specifications.
• Conduct routine quality checks and inspections throughout the production process.
• Read and interpret production orders, specifications, and work instructions.
• Identify and correct process deviations to ensure product quality.
• Complete production reports, process logs, and material usage records.
• Perform minor troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on extrusion equipment.
• Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance departments to resolve production issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S standards.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and environmental regulations.
