Job summary

CSL Fort Smith plasma center is seeking a qualified medical professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis and provide limited emergency care to donors and staff. You will interview donors, review medical histories, and coordinate with the Center Medical Director on donor suitability, while monitoring test results and advising on reactive results.

The role requires a healthcare background with at least one year of experience, preferably in plasma collection or a regulated

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication or treatments per licensure
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to obtain information for donor suitability
• Respond with Center Medical Director to medically related questions and inform staff on donor suitability
• Review test results to determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms
• Notifies and counsels donors regarding reactive test results; refer donors for follow-up
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations as needed
