Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations under the Center Manager and Center Physician. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable results.

The role requires familiarity with plasma collection regulations and center‑level support of environmental, health and safety matters.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current RN/NP/PA license in the state of assignment.
• CPR and AED certifications are required.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting is required.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, screening, and testing.
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for emergencies.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical issues.
• Support vaccination programs for employees (HBV and seasonal flu).
• Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/ER.
• Act as a pandemic coordinator when authorized and assist investigations.

About the Role

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician. The role involves determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. The Specialist must be familiar with plasma collection industry regulations and perform center‑level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS) matters.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies and development of Center Physician standing orders, including donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs with unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.
• Act as a pandemic coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations associated with pandemic threats as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Current license or certification in the state of assignment: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
• Current CPR and AED certification.

Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.

Complete FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.

Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Benefits & Compensation

• Hourly wage range: $33.44 - $45.98. Actual wage may vary based on qualifications and experience.
