Job description

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse)

Medical Support Specialists support plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. The role is performed under the guidance of the Center Manager and on medical issues by the Center Physician. The specialist must be familiar with plasma collection regulations and provide environmental, health and safety support as directed by BioLife Medical Affairs.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self‑exclusion.
• Conduct medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and review serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage adverse events in accordance with SOPs.
• Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, support development of standing orders, and coordinate donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medically or technically unacceptable findings.
• Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health or ER.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; or graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
• Current licensed or certified in the state of assignment (LPN or LVN).
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA‑approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• At least two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Location & Compensation

USA – TX – Denton
U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $23.85 – $32.79 (actual wage dependent on qualifications, experience, and location). U.S. based employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives, up to 80 hours of sick time per year, and new hires may accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
