Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Tyler, TX seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support center operations and ensure donor safety. You will determine donor eligibility, assess adverse events, review laboratory results, and communicate test outcomes to donors.

You will report to the Center Manager and work with the Center Physician on medical issues. The role requires EMT-Paramedic licensure, CPR/AED, IV therapy readiness, and clinical experience, with a focus on regulatory

Qualifications

• Pharmacology and clinical care foundations required for donor screening and safety.
• Licensed or certified EMT-Paramedic with current CPR/AED certification.
• IV therapy training and compliance with FDA training requirements.
• Experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
• Ability to manage donor safety and laboratory result review.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, medical history, and exam.
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for emergencies and transport.
• Refer complex findings to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs as needed.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for staff.
• Manage employee incidents with EHS guidance and reporting.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

EMT-Paramedic

Current CPR and AED certification

Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy

FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training

Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
