Job summary

Aerotek in Oakdale, MN is seeking a Burn Table / Plasma Operator to setup and run CNC plasma, laser, or oxy-fuel burn tables for cutting large metal sheets used in industrial tanks. You will read blueprints, load materials, monitor cutting, and inspect parts for quality in a busy fabrication shop.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with plasma/burn tables, CNC machine parameters, and sheet metal fabrication, including forklift operation for material handling.

Qualifications

• Experience operating plasma tables or burn tables for cutting metal sheets.
• Hands-on experience in machine operation with a focus on plasma cutting and laser cutting equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings accurately.
• Proficiency in using burn tables, mills, press brakes, lathes, grinders, and welding equipment in a fabrication environment.
• Skill in using tape measures and performing sheet metal fabrication tasks with precision.
• Experience operating a sit-down forklift for material handling.
• Ability to monitor and adjust CNC machine parameters to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Attention to detail when inspecting finished parts for accuracy, quality, and dimensional compliance.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC plasma, laser, or oxy-fuel burn tables to cut steel plate and other materials according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings to determine cutting requirements and machine settings.
• Load and unload steel plate and other materials onto burn tables using overhead cranes or forklifts.
• Monitor cutting operations continuously and adjust machine parameters as needed to maintain cut quality and productivity.
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and dimensional compliance using measuring tools such as tape measures.
• Operate a sit-down forklift for material handling, staging, and movement of metal sheets and finished components.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area around the burn and plasma tables, following shop safety practices and procedures.
