Job summary

Detroit Thermal Systems is seeking a Continuous Improvement Manager to lead plant-wide CI efforts focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People (SQDCP).

You will standardize IE processes, develop Manufacturing Engineers, and drive Lean manufacturing, daily management, and waste elimination across the site in Romulus, MI. Strong leadership and data-driven problem-solving are essential for sustained performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in manufacturing with CI/IE emphasis.
• Experience deploying Lean manufacturing and structured problem solving.
• Experience developing and implementing IE standards and processes.
• Proven ability to train and develop technical teams.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead plant-wide CI initiatives aligned with Lean strategy to improve SQDCP.
• Drive Lean systems, daily management, standard work, and waste elimination.
• Identify and eliminate operational losses using data and RCA.
• Coach cross-functional teams in Kaizen events and improvement projects.
• Establish KPI management systems with clear ownership and timelines.
• Drive throughput, inventory reduction, and productivity improvements.
• Align CI activities with operations, quality, maintenance, and supply chain.
• Develop CI culture through training, coaching, and leadership engagement.
• Track and report improvements with measurable impact.
• Lead IE standards development and standardization across the plant.
• Partner with Manufacturing Eng to deploy IE standards in production.
• Train Manufacturing Engineers to own IE processes.
• Provide hands-on IE tools support like time studies and line balancing.
• Support engineered labor standards and productivity models.
• Ensure IE practices are documented and governed.
