Job summary

U.S. Silica in Millen, GA is seeking a Plant Utility Operator to support maintenance, material handling, and ongoing operations. You will assist with cleaning, equipment checks, and basic repairs to keep production running smoothly.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, safety focus, and ability to work outdoors in all seasons. Prior forklift experience is preferred; MS Office skills and willingness to learn are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Operate mobile equipment including Forklift, Telehandler, Track Skidsteer, and Snorkel lift.
  • Shovel, sweeps, cleans grounds, load/unloads trucks, manages sand spillage, and maintains cleanliness.
  • Washes floors/windows, bulk bagging, paperwork for trucks, and assists maintenance when needed.

Job description

The Plant Utility Operator performs complex maintenance assistance, material handling, and supporting operational continuity.

Responsibilities
  • Shovels, sweeps, cleans up grounds, loads and unloads trucks, cleans sand spillage with water hose, broom, hi-vac system, and shovel.
  • Niro dryer floor QC including washing and changing hot lances with slurry.
  • Washes floors, windows plus bulk bagging, paperwork for trucks, and assisting maintenance when needed.
  • Cleans, inspects, refuels, lubricates, and makes operating repairs to mobile equipment and other machinery.
  • Operates all mobile equipment like Forklift, Telehandler, Track Skidsteer, and Snorkel lift Additional duties as assigned.
  • Works in other job classifications as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Industrial mining experience and MSHA Certification is a plus.
  • High level of safety and quality.
  • Ability to multi-task at a fast-pace (at times), work in outside conditions during all seasons, climb multi-levels by stairs & ladders, work from elevated platforms, use hand tools (shovel, hammer, wrenches, etc.).
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Forklift experience - Preferred.
  • Computer Software - Preferred.
  • Warehouse experience - Preferred.
  • Must have some knowledge of operating heavy equipment like farm equipment or construction equipment
  • Must have mathematical skills and computer skills such as MS Office Excel or Word
  • Must have mechanical skills and experience working with hand tools and power tools
  • Must possess physical skills to lift 50 lbs. and willing to work in high heat area
