Job summary

U.S.-Silica is seeking a Belt Filter Operator to manage complex production equipment, optimize processes, and lead shift-level operations. You will operate and monitor plant machinery, perform routine inspections, and record data while ensuring safety and quality.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to work nights and weekends. MSHA knowledge and forklift experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced outdoor environments; climb stairs and ladders.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • MSHA knowledge preferred; forklift experience preferred.
  • Basic computer software skills and warehouse experience preferred.
  • Previous plant operator experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor plant machinery for optimal performance.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of systems.
  • Record temperatures, pressures, and flow rates accurately.
  • Identify and troubleshoot operational issues; report abnormalities.
  • Start up, shut down, and adjust equipment as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures and keep work area clean.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams for repairs.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of materials and spare parts.
  • Complete shift logs and handovers accurately.

Job description

Belt Filter Operator is a skilled operator responsible for managing complex production equipment, optimizing processes, and leading shift-level operations.

Responsibilities
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems used in plant operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and practices (e.g., OSHA, ISO).
  • Operate and monitor plant machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on plant systems.
  • Record operating data such as temperatures, pressures, and flow rates.
  • Identify and troubleshoot operational issues and report abnormalities.
  • Start up, shut down, and adjust equipment as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols strictly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the work area.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams for repairs and upgrades.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of materials and spare parts.
  • Complete shift logs and handovers properly.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • High level of safety and quality.
  • Ability to multi-task at a fast‑pace (at times), work in outside conditions during all seasons, climb multi‑levels by stairs & ladders, work from elevated platforms, use hand tools (shovel, hammer, wrenches, etc.).
  • Good problem‑solving skills.
  • Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) Knowledge - Preferred.
  • Forklift experience - Preferred.
  • Computer Software - Preferred.
  • Warehouse experience - Preferred.
  • Proven experience as a plant operator or in a similar role.
