U.S. Silica is seeking an Operator Dry to run intermediate to advanced mining equipment, performing inspections, quality checks and routine maintenance with minimal supervision.
The role emphasizes safety, environmental compliance, and reliable production in a fast-paced plant environment. You will participate in MSHA and company training, handle loading and unloading of materials, and maintain clean, safe work areas while coordinating with multiple departments to ensure consistent product
The Operator Dry operates intermediate to advanced mining equipment with minimal supervision, ensuring safe and efficient production
Conduct pre-shift and post-shift inspections on all production equipment during each shift and record findings on daily confirmation sheets.
Complete pre-operation equipment inspection sheets on any equipment used during your shift.
Follow all company safety and health policies.
Complete MSHA, U.S. Silica, Columbia Plant, and all task training prior to performing daily job responsibilities.
Keep all high-traffic areas clean and clear of trash, debris, tools, hoses, or other items.
Use proper cleaning procedures for oil and other lubricant leaks and spills.
Follow and maintain all applicable Environmental Compliance standards.
Perform quality checks while operating equipment on a scheduled basis to maintain product specifications.
Make adjustments to equipment as needed.
Inspect incoming trucks and railcars and determine if cleaning is required.
Wash out trucks or railcars when necessary.
Load trucks and railcars with the correct product.
Complete the Data Collection Card with loading information for each railcar loaded.
Clean spills on or around trucks, railcars, and loading areas.
Perform all duties in the Wet Process Machine Patrol checklist, including pump checks and reagent checks.
Clear machinery malfunctions and restart equipment as needed.
Conduct all in-process control tests in the wet process.
Collect all in-process and finished product samples in the wet process.
Clean spills and wash down wet process areas as needed.
Perform all duties in the Milling Machine Patrol checklist, including mill and separator checks and greasing and lubricating equipment.
Clear machinery malfunctions and restart equipment as needed.
Conduct all in-process control tests in milling.
Clean spills and wash down milling areas as needed.
Maintain strong working relationships within the plant.
Maintain supportive and respectful working relationships with all U.S. Silica employees and departments.
Maintain professional relationships with contractors, vendors, truck drivers, and site visitors.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic computer skills.
High level of safety and quality awareness.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work outdoors in all seasons.
Ability to climb multi-level stairs and ladders and work from elevated platforms.
Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, hammers, and wrenches.
Good problem-solving skills.
Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) knowledge preferred.
Forklift experience preferred.
Computer software experience preferred.
Warehouse experience preferred.
