Job summary

U.S. Silica is seeking an OTR Driver to safely operate heavy-duty commercial vehicles, coordinating long-haul routes between mine sites and production facilities.

You will load, tarp, and transport ore and materials while complying with DOT regulations and company safety standards. The role requires a valid Class A CDL with Tanker and Doubles endorsements, a current DOT medical card, and a strong safety record.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Class A CDL with Tanker and Doubles endorsements required.
  • Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Medical Card) required.
  • Qualifying DMV driving record required.
  • Prior CDL driving experience required; heavy equipment operation experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing or mining experience preferred.
  • MSHA knowledge preferred.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Excellent driving record and strong commitment to safety.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound decision-making skills.
  • Good attendance and reliability.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate belt trailers, double belly dump trailers, and other commercial vehicles to transport ore, materials, and equipment between facilities.
  • Load trucks using front-end loaders and properly tarp loads before transport.
  • Operate loaders, forklifts, and other heavy equipment as needed.
  • Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and routine equipment inspections to ensure safe operation and identify maintenance needs.
  • Conduct routine equipment maintenance and promptly report mechanical or safety concerns.
  • Monitor road and weather conditions and communicate issues that may impact deliveries to the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Maintain communication with the Transportation Supervisor and mill control room regarding delivery schedules, operational updates, and changing priorities.
  • Manage plant waste removal to prevent operational disruptions.
  • Transport equipment and materials safely and efficiently while meeting daily production priorities.
  • Support general operations by conducting safety audits, picking up parts, assisting with operator training, and maintaining parts inventory as needed.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, as well as applicable DOT, state, or federal transportation regulations.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and uphold company safety and quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
