Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy in Council Bluffs, IA is seeking a full-time maintenance associate to support multiple plant departments, operate ethanol production equipment, and assist with loading and unloading processes to keep operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and complete assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Maintenance and grounds upkeep including shoveling and trash pickup.
  • Inspect equipment and complete related records.
  • Keep the plant clean on a scheduled basis.
  • Use power washers, shovels, brooms, and other cleaning equipment.
  • Monitor operating equipment status in your section.
  • Perform routine equipment lubrication and refueling.
  • Document accidents and injuries.
  • Keep the plant in a "Tour Ready" condition.
  • Complete duties safely and efficiently.
  • Assist all departments with loading, unloading and general duties.
  • Other duties as assigned to support daily operations.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Description

Summary

Provide assistance to multiple departments within the Plant; operate machinery and equipment necessary in the production of ethanol and co-products, including the loading and unloading of these products, safely and as specified. Provide back up to departments.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Respond to and complete assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  2. Responsible for grounds maintenance including shoveling, trash pick-up, etc.
  3. Responsible for inspecting all required equipment and completion of all related records.
  4. Maintain the cleanliness of the plant on a scheduled basis.
  5. Regularly utilize power washers, shovels, brooms, and other cleaning equipment.
  6. Keep current on the status of all operating equipment in your section.
  7. Maintain equipment by checking fluid levels, greasing, lubricating and re-fueling.
  8. Properly document any accidents and/or injuries.
  9. Assist in keeping the plant in a "Tour Ready" condition at all times.
  10. Complete all duties in a safe and efficient manner at all times.
  11. Assist all departments with loading, un loading and general duties
  12. Other duties as may be assigned to accomplish the safe and timely day-to-day operations within the plant.
  13. Wear personal protective equipment as required.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical trade certifications are assets.
  • Experience with machinery, industrial environment, grain elevator or agricultural settings a plus.
  • Experience with the operation of forklift trucks, skid loaders, pallet jacks, and related material handling equipment a plus
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to work in outside conditions and adverse weather.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 250'
