Job summary

Premium Metals, Inc., a division of American Consolidated Industries, is among the country’s leading providers of steel products. The Plant Utility role involves assisting in maintenance and operations, updating production records, and ensuring safe, efficient handling of materials in a fast-paced steel environment.

Under supervision, you will perform unskilled to semi-skilled tasks, use measurement tools, and coordinate with material handlers to move finished goods.

Qualifications

  • Forklift certification and ability to operate safety equipment.
  • Proficient with measurement tools (tape measure, micrometers, calipers) and basic computer use.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to meet business needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data and material handling.
  • Basic math skills for quantities and measurements.
  • Willingness to work outside standard hours when required.
  • Ability to interact with employees at all levels.
  • Able to read simple work instructions and orders in English; capable of writing simple correspondence in English.

  • Maintain safe work environment and housekeeping.
  • Assist with work orders, instructions, and customer specs per safety rules.
  • Perform final checks on material condition and handle accordingly.
  • Update ERP system with production quantities and identities.
  • Print tags and apply to product.
  • Coordinate movement of finished goods to inventory locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Under general supervision, the Plant Utility performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks involved involving the general maintenance and operations processes; and performs related work as required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Embraces the 1 T.E.A.M. culture
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Assist in installing compliance with work order, work instructions and/or customer specs while following all safety guidelines.
  • Perform final check for material condition & takes appropriate steps for handling.
  • Update ERP system with production quantities and identities
  • Print tags and apply to product
  • Coordinate the movement of finished goods by material handlers to inventory locations
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Forklift/crane certified
  • Ability to use computers, read tape measures, micrometers and calipers
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Strong focus and attention to detail
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours/days as needed
  • Able to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the company
  • Able to read and comprehend simple work instructions, work orders, short correspondence and memos written in English
  • Able to write simple correspondence in English
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Industry knowledge and experience, a plus
