Job summary

Premium Metals, Inc. is hiring a Set Up Operator to support slitting and machine setup in a fast-paced steel processing environment in Ohio. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork within a 1-TEAM culture.

Responsibilities include setup, maintenance of equipment, reading build sheets, and ensuring customer specifications are met. A high school diploma is required, with strong attention to detail and reliability essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to read tape measures, micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to perform complete set-up and operational tasks of slitting to ensure compliance with customer specifications and production requirements.
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.
  • Ability to read and write simple correspondence in English.

Responsibilities

  • Embraces the 1 TEAM culture.
  • Wear all proper PPE as required and in accordance with safety policy and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by safe work habits and housekeeping.
  • Develop knowledge of slitter set-up program.
  • Generate build sheets based on production work orders.
  • Build heads utilizing build sheet instructions.
  • Maintain knife and rubber inventory.
  • Clean slitter knives and tooling.
  • Set-up, maintain and repair production machines, tooling and other equipment.
  • Perform routine checks of parts to ensure product quality.
  • Regularly inspect machinery and processes to ensure safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Under general supervision, the Set Up Operator performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks involved involving the general maintenance and operations processes; and performs related work as required.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Develop knowledge of slitter set-up program
  • Generate build sheets based on production work orders
  • Build heads utilizing build sheet instructions
  • Maintain knife and rubber inventory
  • Clean slitter knives and slitter tooling
  • Set-up, maintain and repair production machines, tooling and other equipment
  • Perform routine checks of parts to ensure quality of product
  • Constant inspection of machinery, equipment, and process to ensure safety
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Ability to use computers, read tape measures, micrometers and calipers
  • Ability to perform complete set-up and operational tasks of slitting to ensure compliance with customer specifications and production requirements
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours/days as needed
  • Able to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the company
  • Able to read and comprehend simple work instructions, work orders, short correspondence and memos written in English
  • Able to write simple correspondence in English
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Industry knowledge and experience, a plus
