SUNY Delhi is seeking a Plant Utilities Engineer 1 to operate, maintain, and repair high‑pressure steam and hot water boilers and related energy systems on campus. You will respond to mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues, troubleshoot faults, and coordinate repairs, while monitoring energy management systems and performing water testing.

Qualifikationen

• NY State Civil Service decentralized exam completed or reachable for Plant Utilities Engineer 1.
• HVAC certificate OR
• Diploma, four (4) years full-time hands-on of qualifying experience
• Associate's degree and two (2) years of qualifying experience
• Completion of a training course in fundamentals of stationary engineering, plus appropriate mechanical or electrical experience, or four years in operation/maintenance of high‑pressure boilers or related equipment.
• The candidate must be able to perform duties satisfactorily.
• Willingness to enter confined space
• Must complete an annual respirator test
• Valid NYS Driver's license

Aufgaben

• Operate, maintain, and repair high pressure boilers, water systems, and related equipment.
• Respond to mechanical, electrical, or plumbing calls; troubleshoot and coordinate repairs.
• Operate energy management systems controlling boilers and HVAC systems.
• Conduct boiler and water testing, analyze results, and adjust chemicals.
• Clean, inspect, and maintain boiler; perform chemical cleaning, brick repair, tubes, and calibrations.
• Assist with maintenance on water/sewage pumping, filtration, and treatment equipment.
• Work on underground steam distribution lines.
• Handle hazardous materials; respond to incidents with environmental impact.
• Initiate campus response to oil spills, chemical spills, air quality, emissions, and water contamination.
• Use hand and power tools across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades.
• Supervise subordinate staff such as Plant Utilities Assistants and Facilities staff.
• May require asbestos removal certification
• May operate and test campus pool
• May obtain NYS Class C water operator's license
