Job summary

Farmingdale State College seeks a Plant Utilities Engineer 1 to operate, maintain and repair boilers, HVAC and associated plant utilities equipment to ensure reliable campus services. The role may supervise junior staff and coordinate contractor work as needed.

The NY HELPS program supports temporary placement; the incumbent will manage energy systems, respond to incidents, and contribute to energy conservation initiatives while serving the college community on Long Island.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, HVAC, or auxiliary plant utilities equipment.
• Valid NYS Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains, and repairs boilers, HVAC systems, and related equipment.
• Operates energy management systems and monitors boiler and HVAC controls.
• Conducts testing, analyses results, and performs preventive maintenance.
• Responds to mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues and coordinates repairs.
• May supervise Plant Utilities Assistants, Facility Operations Assistants, contractors, or other trades staff.
