Job summary

Bristol Management Services in Reno, NV is recruiting a Plant Tech Mechanic to support safe, reliable, and efficient operation of ready-mix concrete production equipment and fleet assets.

The role inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance on plant equipment including batching systems, conveyors, mixers, electrical and hydraulic components. Strong emphasis on safety and record-keeping, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a mechanic, especially with heavy diesel equipment.
• 3+ years of experience with yellow iron equipment (bulldozers, excavators, loaders).
• Working knowledge of MSHA/OSHA standards and regulations.
• Experience with hand tools and power tools used in mechanical work.
• Knowledge of basic tire service and repair techniques.
• Experience with hydraulics.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on ready-mix concrete plant equipment and machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
• Maintain and repair batch plants, conveyors, aggregate systems, cement silos, mixers, and related equipment.
• Inspect equipment regularly to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
• Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimize production interruptions.
• Replace worn or damaged parts, including bearings, belts, motors, gearboxes, chains, and pumps.
• Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and metal repairs as needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and inspection reports.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate with plant operators and management to schedule maintenance activities.
• Assist with plant upgrades, equipment installations, and equipment modifications.
• Safely operate maintenance tools, shop equipment, and machinery.
• Report equipment defects, safety concerns, and repair needs to supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Assist diesel mechanics with equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and other maintenance-related tasks as needed.
• Perform concrete air content and slump testing as needed and document test results in accordance with company procedures.
