Job summary

Yanfeng is seeking a senior materials and procurement leader to manage purchasing, production planning and material control at our Romulus, MI operations. You will develop departmental systems, oversee schedules, and build supplier relationships to ensure timely, cost-effective materials and shipments.

You will drive continuous improvement in quality, safety and efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 7-10 minimum years of experience in the field.
• 3-5 minimum years of experience within the automotive industry.
• Must be able and willing to travel to customer sites and work at manufacturing plants.
• Experience in material planning/purchasing; Buyer experience beneficial.
• Expertise in use of MRP systems.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, email).

Responsibilities

• Develop departmental systems, procedures and policies for purchasing, production and material control.
• Oversee production schedules, including material procurement and manufacturing schedules; monitor material availability and inbound/outbound shipments.
• Develop supplier relationships and coordinate with Corporate Purchasing; meet locally with supplier representatives.
• Devise methods to ensure efficient movement of materials; update procedures and training.
• Monitor costs for material and labor; report to Plant Manager.
• Promote a safe work environment; conduct safety audits and participate in 8D corrective actions.
