Job summary

Darling Ingredients in Des Moines, IA seeks a Plant Supervisor to oversee the flow of raw materials to finished products and ensure equipment and facilities are well maintained.

You will lead maintenance and production teams, drive safety and continuous improvement, and monitor performance to meet daily targets.

This role requires a high school diploma and 3–5 years of supervisory experience, plus at least 1 year fabricating with welding/cutting techniques.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED.
• 3-5 years of prior supervisory experience is required.
• Minimum 1-year of experience as a fabricator; including knowledge of welding and cutting techniques.

Responsibilities

• Observe safety rules and conduct regular safety meetings with plant staff.
• Maintain efficient flow of raw materials from receipt to finished products.
• Oversee maintenance, preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
• Achieve department targets and monitor performance metrics.
• Supervise production and maintenance staff and plant facilities.
• Assist investigations of accidents and report recommendations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

The Plant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the timely and efficient flow of raw materials into quality finished products; ensures that equipment and buildings are maintained and in good repair.

Responsibilities Include

• Responsible for observing all Company safety rules and regulations, recognize safety as top Company priority and conduct/participate regularly scheduled safety meetings with plant staff.
• Maintain efficient and timely flow of all raw materials received and finished products shipped.
• Oversee all aspects of maintenance, preventative maintenance, manages breakdowns and repair.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts in all areas of responsibility.
• Responsible for achieving individual and department targets, goals and objectives.
• Responsible for overseeing job performance of production and maintenance as well as all the maintenance of equipment and buildings that are used to process raw and finished materials.
• Assist in conducting investigation of accidents that occur within jurisdiction and makes recommendations to Plant Safety Committee.
• All other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED.
• 3-5 years of prior supervisory experience is required.
• Minimum 1-year of experience as a fabricator; including knowledge of welding and cutting techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical school certificate or Associates Degree.
• Labor relations background and leadership experience.
• Good understanding of production maintenance and repair protocols.
