Darling Ingredients is hiring an Assistant Plant Manager to oversee the entire plant operation that processes raw materials into high-quality products. The role reports to the Plant Manager and ensures sanitary facilities and equipment are well-maintained.

You will manage materials flow, hourly schedules, and safety, while supervising maintenance and production staff. Required are 2–3 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, plus 3+ years in industrial settings.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years of prior supervisory or management experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or similar operational environment.
  • 3+ years of industrial or manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee efficient and timely flow of all raw materials received.
  • Maintain hourly schedules from start to finish.
  • Monitor performance to uphold high standards.
  • Control vendor pricing by comparing prices, value, service and quality.
  • Plan stock orders to minimize emergency orders.
  • Ensure quality of finished products and identify causes of quality loss.
  • Supervise maintenance and production personnel and related duties.
  • Keep maintenance records up to date.
  • Observe company safety rules and lead safety meetings.
  • Investigate accidents and report to Plant Safety Committee.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Maintains an efficient and timely flow of all raw materials received.
  • Responsible for maintaining hourly schedules beginning to end.
  • Monitors performance of individuals to ensure that procedures are being held to highest standards.
  • Controls vendor pricing by comparing prices with value, service, and quality among competition.
  • Plans stock orders to minimize time and money spent on emergency ordering.
  • Responsible for the quality of all finished products and determines any reason for loss of quality.
  • Responsible for supervising job performance of maintenance and production personnel as well as all the maintenance duties of equipment and buildings that are used to process raw materials.
  • Keeps all maintenance work and associated records up to date.
  • Responsible for being familiar with and observing all Company safety rules and regulations, recognizes safety as top Company priority and conducts regularly scheduled safety meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong computer and basic math skills.
