Job summary

Pilgrim’s in Texas seeks a Safety and Health Specialist to guide the site safety program and lead safety initiatives. The role emphasizes protecting our team members as a core value, with hands-on presence across the processing plant and other locations.

Responsibilities include investigating incidents within 24 hours, performing safety audits, delivering trainings on critical topics, and maintaining accurate safety records and databases.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of directly related experience in an industrial environment.
• Ability to accurately record and communicate safety incidences to management.
• Solid knowledge of OSHA and safety regulations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; SAP experience is a plus.
• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
• Must be able to work varying shifts and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Investigate all near misses, first aid cases, recordables, lost day injuries, and vehicular accidents within 24 hours, and track closure on recommendations.
• Be visibly present in the processing plant and other site locations.
• Conduct periodic safety and health audits and close findings.
• Conduct authorized training on topics such as powered industrial trucks, lockout/tagout, fall protection, respiratory protection, and confined space entry.
• Enter information into accident, training, and corrective action databases accurately and timely.
• Provide training support and ensure monthly training is completed as scheduled.
