JELD-WEN is currently seeking an Plant Quality Control Manager - Premium to join our growing team.

THE ROLE

The Plant Quality Control Manager will play a crucial role in building our internal plant QC program associated with our portfolio of window products. This position is responsible for building our strategic quality system, investigating, analyzing and correcting problems across our window locations, as well as performing audits and implementing new strategies. The individual in this role will ensure the Quality Management System is being followed, will be data-driven, process-focused, and passionate about driving continuous product improvement. This role works cross-functionally with diverse teams within a manufacturing plant to deliver exceptional products that meet customer needs.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities

• Build and manage window manufacturing quality management system.
• Develop and manage plant level quality metrics to drive improvements.
• Reviewing our manufacturing specifications to identify critical to quality specifications needed for production.
• Performing regular quality control audits to ensure sites continue to work in compliance with company and federal standards.
• Reviewing incoming supplies and products from vendors to check for defects and ensure quality.
• Conducting tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues.
• Maintaining detailed reports on site quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws.
• Providing technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates.
• Serving as a liaison between our company's senior management and the sites to identify quality issues and come up with solutions.
• Collaborate with diverse teams within a manufacturing organization, including engineering, product management, and operations, to ensure the successful delivery of products.
• Promote quality achievement and continuous improvement throughout the plant.
• Develop, implement, communicate, and maintain a Quality Management System, covering production and field service activities.
• Formulate and manage the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and systems relating to QA and QC.
• Establish quality procedures and provide necessary training to clearly define quality methods for staff and production employees to apply.
• Ensure tests and procedures are understood, carried out, evaluated and that product modifications are investigated if necessary.
• Manage and maintain quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials, processes, and finished goods.
• Generation of statistical reports on quality standards and analyzing them to produce corrective and preventive actions.
• Daily involvement with the production team to monitor daily production activities, practices and inspection data including any products and services.
• Develop/initiate standards and methods of inspection, testing, evaluation.
• Develop/implement sampling procedures in each area of manufacturing; to also include the development of formats/instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
• Liaison with customers to ensure the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers’ specifications.
• Supervising staff and monitoring production standards.
• Effectively interact with Production, Development, Engineering, Procurement, and Service teams to resolve quality problems, maintain product supply and help introduce new products.
• Assess the product specifications of the Company, its suppliers, and compare with the customer requirements.
• Ensure compliance with national and international standards.
• Establish and maintain controls and documentation procedures.
• Establishing Quality Assurance compliance objectives and ensuring targets are achieved.
• Travel up to 10% may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Qualifications:
• Excellent statistical analysis and quality assurance skills.
• Strong understanding of product development and commercialization processes, including experience with stage-gate or similar methodologies.
• In-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of manufacturing and engineering.
• Expertise in problem-solving with a strong background in data analysis and visualization.
• Ability to work with diverse teams within a manufacturing organization and to lead and inspire teams to deliver exceptional results.
• Hands-on, must be engaged in plant and field activities.
• Demonstrated experience working with contract manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and customers.
• Exceptional leadership skills with excellent written and oral communication skills, including reporting out to senior leadership.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products
• Experience in quality management systems, quality systems audits.
• Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing projects and/or Lean/Six Sigma certification a plus.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in material science, engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in product or supplier quality, engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance for building product manufacturers, experience with window and door products is preferred.
• Proven experience in manufacturing and in securing supplier process agreements.
