Plant Project Engineer — Capital Projects Leader

Job summary

Arclin is seeking a Plant Project Engineer to support engineering and capital projects at our manufacturing facility in Moncure, NC. You will lead capital projects from concept through closeout, coordinating with Plant Manager, Operations, Maintenance, and cross-functional teams to ensure safety, reliability, and profitability.

The role requires 5–10+ years in plant or project engineering, experience with capital projects, and proficiency with P&IDs, process drawings, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Experience managing or supporting capital projects in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
• Experience working directly with contractors and vendors on-site.
• Experience with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, installation, commissioning, and project closeout.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage capital projects from initial concept through design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and project closeout.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, specifications, and execution plans.
• Prepare engineering analyses including preliminary design, detailed design, project cost analysis, life-cycle cost analysis, and equipment selection.
• Prepare Capital Investment Requests and supporting documentation for capital projects.
• Evaluate plant equipment, facilities, and processes and identify opportunities for improvement, modernization, reliability, and cost reduction.
• Provide technical engineering support for plant projects, equipment modifications, new installations, and facility improvements.
• Ensure projects achieve their intended technical, operational, safety, and financial objectives.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining agreed-upon schedules and budgets.
• Support initiatives that improve the long-term profitability and sustainability of the facility.
• Evaluate equipment and process requirements and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Review and interpret P&IDs, process drawings, equipment drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Support equipment startup, commissioning, testing, and turnover to Operations and Maintenance.
• Work to minimize disruption to plant operations while projects are being planned and executed.
