Full Time - Hourly Operatives Devens, MA, US

Role Overview

The Plant Production Lead is responsible for operating production equipment, completing associated documentation, and directing production technicians on shift. The production lead ensures that the shift meets all safety, compliance, and performance goals while meeting production schedules. The position coordinates with QA, QC, Purchasing, Maintenance, and Material Control to ensure all support activities are completed so performance goals and production schedules are met. The Production Lead will serve as the acting Production Supervisor in the absence of the Production Supervisor.

This position is 100% on site at our Devens, MA facility on 12‑hour shifts 6am – 6pm.

Core Responsibilities
  • Promote a positive work environment by maintaining a safe work area and ensuring that team members have the knowledge, skills, and appropriate tools to perform their duties and a thorough understanding of their performance expectations; provide prompt, appropriate feedback to develop employees to their full potential.
  • Utilize staff, materials, and equipment to produce quality products fit for their intended use, in a safe manner and at the optimum level of productivity to maximize profitability; ensure compliance with Company SOPs, FDA CGMPs, DEA regulations, and all state, local, and federal regulations; train staff on production activities and organize daily work to allow for timely training.
  • Ensure that facility and pharmaceutical systems documentation are maintained in compliance with Company, FDA/CGMP, and DEA regulations; facilitate problem resolution through strong working relationships with QC, QA, Maintenance, and Material Control; communicate timing and prioritization of in‑process sample requirements.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Production Supervisor on employee relations, performance management, continuous improvement, and project goals/objectives.
  • Accountable for documentation and reports related to operations, including shift handover reports, material usage reports, deviations, and safety investigations.
  • Ensure waste is appropriately characterized, labelled, stored, and disposed in compliance with all regulations; ensure all production/support equipment is in proper condition and appropriately labelled; work collaboratively with Maintenance as appropriate.
  • Active member of Emergency Response Team; participate in Emergency Response training and related activities; promptly report all incidents and complete investigations as necessary.
  • Maintain appropriate housekeeping for a pharmaceutical manufacturer; develop and maintain 5S areas; ensure appropriate inventory levels of production supplies.
  • Identify ways to improve efficiency and productivity, reduce costs, and encourage team members to do the same; may perform all work associated with Production Technician duties to meet schedules.
Qualifications
Required
  • AA/BA or equivalent minimum 3–5 years of experience in a STEM field
  • High School Diploma and/or Pharmaceutical Certification or equivalent required with 7–10 years experience
  • Experience working in a production kilo‑lab and/or plant
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands or arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch when necessary
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and occasionally lift or move more than 100 lbs using available material handling equipment
  • Must be able to work rotating shift
Salary Range

The salary range for this role is $85,000–$95,000. This range represents a good‑faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity.

All full‑time employees are eligible to participate in our annual incentive bonus program. Bonus targets vary by career level and are based on individual and company performance.
