Job summary

Sonoco Products Company is seeking a Plant Process Engineer at our Milwaukee, WI facility to lead environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives while supporting safe, reliable manufacturing operations. You will coordinate maintenance, capital projects, and safety programs across Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Safety teams to improve efficiency and equipment performance.

The role requires strong mechanical/electrical expertise, OSHA knowledge, and hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

B.S. in Engineering or A.S. in Engineering with equivalent experience.
3-5 years leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
Strong background in mechanical systems, electronics/automation, and chemical processes.
Advanced computer skills: Word, Excel, CAD, and project management software.
OSHA safety knowledge with emphasis on machinery safety and lockout/tagout.

Responsibilities

Lead environmental compliance monitoring and regulatory reporting.
Support capital improvement planning, budgeting, and execution.
Administer and support plant safety programs.
Provide engineering oversight for utilities, facilities, and production equipment.
Coordinate preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
Manage maintenance activities for facilities and critical systems.
Coordinate inspections, repairs, and contractor work.
Improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety.
Maintain on-call engineering support for critical operations.
Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
Develop equipment standards and engineering documentation.
Monitor performance with KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve production goals.
