National Gypsum Company, headquartered in Charlotte, NC, seeks a training Plant/Process Engineer to learn under an experienced Plant Engineer, ensuring proper installation and maintenance of plant equipment for safe, efficient operation. The role offers relocation to another NGC plant within 6–24 months, with a clear path to a leadership position as a process/plant engineer.

A BS in Engineering and at least two years of manufacturing experience are preferred, with PLC, AutoCAD, and electrical

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering; Electrical preferred or equivalent training/experience.
• Minimum of two years manufacturing experience.
• Working knowledge of PLC programming, AutoCAD, and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of power distribution and motor controls.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication/leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing capital budgets and bid processes.
• Manage and complete capital budget projects on-time and under budget.
• Install project equipment and train operations/maintenance personnel; develop SOPs and PMs.
• Evaluate equipment needs and recommend purchases to Plant Manager.
• Coordinate with Corporate Engineering on projects needing engineering support.
• Prepare annual facility audits and estimate expenditures and timelines.
• Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical failures and develop solutions.
• Develop and implement process control technology upgrades.
• Evaluate production problems and recommend changes to Plant Manager.
• Design or modify equipment to improve plant operations.
• Assess new equipment applications for manufacturing processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will be located at any US Plant Location

This is a training position for a future leadership role withinNationalGypsum. The position will train under an experienced Plant Engineer to ensure proper installation and maintenance of plant equipment and facilities to provide a safe,efficientand cost-effective operation.This role should expect torelocateto another NGC plant within 6-24 monthsat a mutually agreeable location where NGC has a need for a process engineer or plant engineer.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive):

• Assistin preparation of capital budgets by recommending specific projects, preparing appropriation requests, and obtaining competitive prices and/or bids
• Manage and complete Capital budget projects on-time and under budget
• Complete installation of project equipment; complete allappropriate trainingfor operations and maintenance personnel and develop all required SOPs and PMs for those projects
• Evaluate plant equipment needs and recommend to the plant manager equipment to be purchased
• Coordinate with Corporate Engineering on all projects that require engineeringassistance
• Prepare annual facility audit to assess the physical condition of buildings, grounds, and equipment.Estimate expenditures involved,determineimplementationtimeframeand set the priority of each project
• Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical failures and develop solutions
• Develop and implement strategies for process control technology upgrades
• Evaluate production problems related to plant equipment and recommend changes to the Plant Manager
• Design new equipment ormodifyexisting equipment to improve plant operations
• Analyze new equipment forpossible applicationto manufacturing process
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred (Will consider other qualified training and experience)
• Minimum of two years manufacturing experience
• Working knowledge in PLC programming, AutoCAD, and troubleshooting
• Working knowledge of industrial electricity (power distribution, motor controls, etc.)
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management,possessleadership and training skills
