Job summary

Midwest Salt in Chicago seeks a hands-on Plant & Port Manager to oversee the international terminal, port, rail spur, and production facility. You will lead operations, coach teams, manage budgets, and drive safety and continuous improvement to meet company goals.

You will align with the COO, ensure material availability, coordinate with suppliers, and optimize production schedules while delivering quality and on-time service to customers.

Qualifications

• Leadership and communication to manage cross-functional teams.
• Technical and production expertise in lean manufacturing.
• Safety and regulatory compliance knowledge (OSHA, environmental).
• Financial acumen with budget, cost analysis, and metrics.
• Problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
• Strategic planning and stakeholder management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and coach the Chicago plant team to achieve goals.
• Oversee production schedules and processes for efficiency and quality.
• Manage budgets, equipment, and vendor performance.
• Develop and enforce safety policies in compliance with regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement and plan strategic capacity and growth.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal supply chain for on-time materials.
• Ensure fast, reliable customer service and quality standards.
