Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks a Facility Director for the Advanced Plant Phenotyping Laboratory (APPL). You will guide scientific direction, operations, and user engagement for a multidisciplinary platform integrating plant biology, automation, imaging, and data science.

You will lead APPL and Greenhouse operations, align capabilities with ORNL priorities, and foster collaborations with BSD leadership, DOE programs, and external partners.

Qualifications

• MS degree with substantial leadership of research facilities, programs, or multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience managing staff, budgets, and strategic planning in a dynamic research environment.
• Ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders and lead complex initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific and operational leadership for APPL and Greenhouse operations.
• Develop and implement APPL's strategic and operational plans aligned with ORNL priorities.
• Oversee user access, project intake, scheduling, costing, and performance metrics.
• Collaborate with BSD leadership and automation groups to integrate capabilities.
