Job Summary

Provides skilled plant engineering services by applying individual technical expertise to equipment, systems, and controls.

Major Job Responsibilities

1. Operates steam boilers and plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner
2. Monitors, records, and maintains proper water treatment in central plant systems
3. Performs repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment and systems, manually and via Building Management System (BMS)
4. Conducts regular rounds, takes gas and water readings
5. Inspects kitchen refrigeration equipment during off hours
6. Monitors BMS system alarms and responds appropriately
7. Maintains logs such as the central plant log, lockout/tagout records, and work records
8. May serve as shift watch lead

Qualifications

• High School/GED
• 4-5 years experience operating high-pressure steam boilers; basic centrifugal chiller experience
• Unlimited Steam License (City of Los Angeles)
• Valid California driver’s license with fewer than three DMV points
• EPA 608 refrigeration license

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficient in office software, email, work order, and BMS systems
• Ability to read blueprints and control drawings
• Knowledge of water treatment principles for boilers, chillers, and cooling towers
• Quick troubleshooting and equipment restoration skills
