Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Plant Operator to support our mining and aggregate production operations. Under the Plant Manager and Supervisor, you will safely operate, monitor, and maintain plant processing equipment, perform inspections, report defects, and manage wear-item inventory to ensure consistent output and a clean work environment.

The role emphasizes safety, adherence to MSHA standards, and teamwork as you train staff and contribute to achieving production goals across multiple shifts

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• Experience: No prior experience required; 6 months–1 year in aggregate plant operations preferred.
• Skills: Mechanical/technical aptitude and ability to follow MSHA safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Start, monitor, and regulate crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders, and pumps per safety standards.
• Adjust process settings to ensure optimal material flow and quality.
• Operate equipment such as skid steers and front-end loaders for load out or cleanup.
• Perform pre-shift inspections and document daily reports.
• Conduct preventative maintenance like greasing, cleaning, belt changes, and bearing replacements.
• Identify malfunctions, shut down equipment safely, and request repairs.
• Maintain a tidy work area and manage spillage and dust around equipment.
• Follow MSHA and company safety policies and wear PPE.
• Communicate with supervisors and teammates to ensure efficiency and safety.
• Assist in training new staff on operation and safety procedures.
• Take on additional duties as assigned, including quality control and rail loading.
• Maintain daily production reports, uptime, downtime, and material inventory.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regs for batch plant operations and dust control.
