Job summary

MartinMarietta is seeking a Plant Operator to support mining and aggregate production. You will safely operate, monitor, and maintain plant processing equipment, perform routine inspections, report defects, and manage wear-item inventories to ensure consistent, high-quality aggregate output.

Under supervision, you will help maintain a clean, secure site, assist in training new staff, and support production goals while adhering to MSHA safety standards and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent work experience.
• No prior experience required; 6 months–1 year in Aggregate Plant Operations or similar Heavy Building Materials industry preferred.
• Strong mechanical and technical familiarity with plant equipment and safety procedures.
• Ability to read and follow process instructions and reports.

Responsibilities

• Start, monitor, and regulate crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders, and pumps in safety compliance.
• Adjust process settings to ensure optimal material flow and quality per specifications.
• Operate mobile equipment such as skid steers and front-end loaders during load out or clean-up.
• Conduct pre-shift and ongoing inspections and document daily reports.
• Perform preventative maintenance like greasing, cleaning, belt changes, and bearing/pulley work.
• Identify malfunctions, safely shut down equipment, and request repairs.
• Maintain a tidy work area, control spills and dust.
• Adhere to MSHA and company safety policies and PPE use.
• Communicate with supervisors and teammates to improve workflow and safety.
• Assist in training new or temporary staff on equipment operation and safety.
• Take on additional duties such as quality control and rail loading as assigned.
• Maintain daily production reports including activity, downtime, and inventory.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations for batch plant operations and dust control.
