Job summary

Airgas is hiring a Plant Operator in Elkhart, IN to safely operate equipment for gas cylinder handling and production. You will load and unload cylinders, move them with a forklift, and ensure proper labeling and organization on the shop floor.

The role requires attention to safety, basic math for measurements, and adherence to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards. A HS diploma and good communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing operation; filling or loading is a plus.
• Familiarity with gas, welding, and safety supply industry or chemical industry valued.
• Excellent verbal and written communication to ensure team alignment.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment safely for handling and production of gas cylinders.
• Load/unload cylinders onto/from route trucks using proper carts.
• Move cylinders with forklift; sort empties by type for organized workflow.
• Read cylinder labels and color-coding to identify size and contents.
• Prepare cylinders for filling and perform basic maintenance tasks as needed.
• Conduct safety checks and quality controls per procedures and regulations.
• Coordinate documentation to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards.
