Job summary

UF Health is seeking a technician to operate stationary engines and critical mechanical systems, including chillers, boilers and generators, to ensure continuous utilities for the facility. The role supports lights, heat, ventilation, medical gases and climate control across departments.

The position requires the ability to work independently, inspect equipment, and perform basic mechanical, carpentry and electrical tasks.

Qualifications

• Must work independently with minimal supervision.
• Able to inspect equipment and identify corrective conditions.
• Knowledge of hand tools, safety, blueprints, schematic diagrams and able to interpret instructions.
• Basic electricity and distribution systems knowledge.
• Basic mechanical, carpentry and plumbing repair skills.

That equipment is necessary to provide utilities such as lights, heat, ventilation, medical gases and power for refrigeration, air conditioning and other services to the facility.

Qualifications

Required Education:

• GED or High School Diploma.

Necessary Skills:

• Must have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Must have the ability to inspect equipment or systems and to identify conditions requiring correction.
• Must have a working knowledge of common hand tools, general safety, blueprints, schematic diagrams and able to interpret instructions.
• Must have a basis working knowledge of electricity and distribution systems.
• Must have the ability to perform basis mechanical, carpentry and plumbing repairs.

Required Experience:

• 1-2 years - Building maintenance or central plant operations.
