Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network is seeking an experienced facilities technician to operate and maintain the boiler and chiller plant, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation. You will troubleshoot systems, perform preventative maintenance, and manage water chemistry, logs, and monitoring equipment.

Ideal candidates have 1–4 years in high-pressure gas boilers, knowledge of HVAC, and the ability to perform mechanical repairs. Must obtain and maintain relevant licenses within Ohio.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years of experience in high pressure gas boilers.
• Ability to operate high pressure steam boilers and a combination of electric and steam-fired chillers.
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems and water chemical treatments a plus.
• Ability to perform mechanical repairs to boiler/chiller plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair boiler and chiller plant systems.
• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on utility systems and equipment; lubricate as needed.
• Conduct water/chemical tests and adjust feed rates.
• Check for leaks in equipment, piping, and controls.
• Operate computerized facility monitoring systems (boilers, chillers, IO systems, air compressors, water softeners).
• Maintain log sheets for boiler/chiller plant systems and equipment.
• Complete PM and scheduled work orders; ensure critical preventive maintenance is completed on time.
• Maintain emergency generator during power outages.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and trouble-shoots and repairs systems of the boiler chiller plant.
• Performs repairs and preventative maintenance on utility systems and equipment. Perform required lubrication on equipment.
• Perform water/chemical test, determine proper feed rates adjust rates as needed.
• Check equipment, piping and controls for leaks.
• Wipe down and clean mechanical components.
• Capable of operating the computerized facility monitoring systems including but not limited to chillers, boilers, IO system, air compressors, water softeners and other related systems and components
• Maintain Log sheets on rounding of boiler and chiller plant systems and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned as directed by supervision.
• Complete PM and as scheduled thru the Plant operations Work order system to ensure that critical Preventive Maintenance Work orders are completed on time.
• Maintains the emergency generator during power outages

Qualifications

• KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 1-4 years experience in high pressure gas boilers -Preferred
• REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Ability to operate high pressure steam boilers and a combination of electric and steamed fired chillers including associated equipment. Working knowledge of HVAC systems and water chemical treatments a plus. Ability to perform mechanical repairs to the mechanical systems including boiler/ chiller plant equipment as needed.
• LICENSES REGISTRATIONS &/or CERTIFICATIONS:
• 3 Third Class Stationary Engineers License within 12 months of hire/ as required a Stem Engineer License in State of Ohio required
• High Pressure License preferred
