Job summary

Airgas in Tampa, FL is hiring a Production Operator / CDL A Driver to support cylinder handling, loading, unloading, and local deliveries. You will use a tractor-trailer and CDL A truck, perform pre-trip checks, move cylinders with a forklift, and maintain safe, timely service at customer sites.

This role offers a home-daily schedule, a 40–42 hour week on average, weekend flexibility, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Hazmat endorsed CDL A required with Airbrake
• Must maintain valid license, medical card and endorsements
• No more than two traffic convictions in 3 years; no DUI in 7 years
• Able to regularly lift 75lbs and move 125lbs with equipment
• 1 year CDL driving experience in last 5 years or trucking school completion within 12 months

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety
• Use forklift to move materials
• Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders and supplies
• Build courteous, professional relationships with customers
• Ensure deliveries are made in a timely manner

The production operator will contribute to the cylinder requalification, possible filling, and repair process and, with the aid, assist in moving industrial gas cylinders to different areas of the plant and supporting the loading/unloading of cylinders from delivery trucks. As a representative of Airgas, the delivery driver is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers. Using a company-provided Tractor Trailer and CDL A truck you will help bridge the gap between our plant and our valued customers. This position focuses on the loading, unloading, and delivery of cylinders while fostering positive interactions with Airgas customers. Airgas operates a modern and advanced fleet. Most vehicles are under 6 years old and equipped with driver-supportive technology such as On-Board Computers, collision avoidance technology, latest camera technology, and GPS navigation.

Are you a MATCH?

Required Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT & Airbrake endorsements
• Hazmat IS REQUIRED. CANDIDATES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED UNLESS THEY CURRENTLY HAVE THEIR HAZMAT
• Maintain appropriate driver’s license, medical card & endorsements
• No more than two (2) traffic convictions: OR two (2) at-fault accident in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years
• Must be able to work in a drug-free environment
• Be able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment
• Must have 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or be able able to provide proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications

• Forklift experience
• Able and willing to drive a manual transmission truck without an automatic restriction on license
