Job summary

Airgas in Canton, OH is seeking a Plant Operator / Backup Delivery Driver (CDL A or B) to manage the flow of cylinders and support customer needs. You will safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders, maintain accurate records, and assist on safety and warehouse tasks as required.

The role requires a valid CDL A or B, Hazmat endorsement preferred, and the ability to lift heavy loads. A clean driving record and forklift certification are beneficial; Airgas offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL is required.
• Hazmat endorsement preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Medical Examiner's Card required.
• Minimum one year of Class A/B driving in the last five years with clean record.
• Able to read material safety data sheets (MSDS).
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs regularly and up to 125 lbs with assistance.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain it.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

As a Service & Delivery Professional at Airgas, you will manage the flow of cylinders while building lasting relationships with customers. You will support the team’s safety, customer service, and operational needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Cylinder Handling: Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases.
• Record Keeping: Accurately record deliveries and pick‑ups on a load manifest, obtain customer signatures, and return empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders to a plant or branch for refilling.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all Airgas safety standards and government regulations (DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, OSHA).
• Warehouse Support: Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License.
• Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
• Hazmat Endorsement (or willing to obtain).
• Minimum one (1) year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five (5) years and a clean driving record meeting stated criteria.
• In lieu of experience, may consider accepting a diploma from an accredited driving school.
• Must be at least 21 years or older.
• Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
• Ability to routinely lift 25–75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76–125 lbs. with aid of material handling equipment.
• Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending required.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to obtain a forklift operator certification.
