Job summary

York Building Products Co is seeking a Plant Operator to safely operate a Sand and Gravel processing plant, maximizing production for the construction industry.

The role includes daily production reporting, basic maintenance tasks such as greasing and lubricating equipment, housekeeping, and machinery upkeep. A focus on safety, efficiency, and problem solving is essential.

Qualifications

• Day shift; willing to work overtime and weekends.
• Prior experience operating an aggregate plant.
• Experience with aggregate screens, conveyors, washers-scrubbers, and centrifugal pumps is a plus.
• Must have basic computer skills and be able to perform plant record keeping.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

General Summary:

The Plant Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a Sand and Gravel processing plant in order to maximize the production of sand and gravel for the construction industry. A Plant Operator is responsible for daily production reporting and assists with basic maintenance activities including greasing and lubricating process equipment, plant housekeeping and machinery maintenance and repair.

Essential Functions:

• Perform routine inspection and maintenance on plant equipment.
• Ability to be able to assist with plant repairs, maintenance and housekeeping.
• Maintain material quality.
• Maintains constant awareness of safety, efficiency and displays a flexibility and out of the box thinking with the capability to solve problems.
• Communicate production and maintenance needs to plant management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

• Day shift position, must be willing to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
• Prior experience operating aggregate plant.
• Experience with aggregate screens, conveyors, material washers-scrubbers and centrifugal pumps a plus.
• Must have basic computer skills and be able to perform plant record keeping.

Work Environment

• Perform all work in accordance with YBP Safety policies.
• The work is performed outdoors and/or indoors, enduring heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, and other elements.
• Capable of operating various types of heavy equipment and/or machinery.

Physical Demands

• Physical demands include but are not limited to walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
