Job summary

Alpine Silica is seeking a Plant Operator to operate production controls, conduct routine plant clean-up, and support maintenance and QA processes. The successful candidate will follow instructions, lift 50 lbs+ as needed, and communicate clearly with leads and supervisors.

Responsibilities include operating PLC-based equipment, assisting with maintenance tasks, and ensuring safe, efficient plant operations in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years general experience performing manual labor such as lifting and moving materials, loading/unloading, digging, etc.
• Must communicate effectively in English, written and spoken.

• Communicate with shift leads and Production Superintendent about malfunctions or irregularities.

• Assist with plant maintenance and inspect for high wear and potential problems.
• Assist maintenance technicians with routine maintenance and repairs such as greasing, changing rollers, bearings, and belt splices.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Job description

The Plant Operator is responsible for operating machinery, performing general labor such as plant clean-up.

Responsibilities:

• Operate controls used in the production process or assist machine operators.

• Performing general labor such as plant clean-up.

• Ability to follow direction and complete tasks in a timely manner with or without close supervision.

• Operate plant equipment utilizing PLC systems.

• Communicate with shift leads and Production Superintendent as to any process malfunctions or irregularities.

• Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance program and testing processes as required by the QA program and procedures.

• Assist with plant maintenance and inspect for high wear and potential problems.

• Assist maintenance technicians in performing routine maintenance and repairs such as greasing, changing rollers, bearings, and belt splices.

• Normal task may include but are not limited to cleaning spilled sand from under tail pulleys or high build up areas, training belts for proper tracking, changing screens, maintaining polymer batching systems, and any other task assigned by Lead Plant Operator or Production Superintendent.

• Performs other related duties as required.

Other Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• One (1) - two (2) years general experience performing manual labor tasks such as lifting and moving materials, loading, and unloading trucks, digging, and filling holes, light mechanical, and light equipment.

• Must be able to communicate effectively in English, using both written and spoken forms of communication.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

• Able to read, speak and write English.

• Regularly required to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 lbs. or more.

• Work performed in a plant environment. Exposure to inclement weather as most work will be performed outside.

• Safety glasses, hard hat and steel toe boots must be worn at all times.

• Auditory and fall protection applicable when required.

• Sensitive to confidential information.

• Must work independently and as a member of a team.
