Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated individual to work on a crew at an Asphalt Production Facility for a leading heavy civil construction company in the Mid-Atlantic. The role requires critical thinking, mechanical skills, good communication, a willingness to learn, focus, safety commitment, and a hardworking attitude. Equipment operation experience and mechanical skills are advantageous. Employees often perform multiple roles at the facility, with training and growth opportunities provided. The work environment is fast-paced and critical to major civil projects on high-profile highways and interstates.

• Operate asphalt plant, including automated drum and batch systems, controlled via computer systems and control boards.
• Coordinate with quality control to meet specifications, adjusting mix formulas and production accordingly.
• Monitor plant status, perform adjustments, load trucks, and dispatch materials.
• Communicate with paving crews, project teams, and customers to optimize production, quality, and profits.
• Maintain a safe work environment, participate in safety discussions, and support safety initiatives.
• Plan production schedules and raw material orders for upcoming days.
• Perform routine documentation, reporting, and maintenance; assist with repairs and winter maintenance.
• Operate additional equipment such as loaders, manlifts, material handlers, skid steers, and forklifts, with proper training and inspections.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical skills and computer knowledge required.
• Experience with mobile or stationary equipment is beneficial, especially in manufacturing or construction.
