Job summary

Allison Transmission seeks a first-level supervisor to lead a medium to large production team on the plant floor. The role emphasizes Lean Manufacturing and Total Productive Maintenance to improve metrics, with a focus on safe, efficient operations and shift-to-shift handovers.

The ideal candidate has 0–2 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or logistics, plus 1+ years in similar settings; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Required: Associate Degree and/or equivalent experience
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
• 0-2 years’ prior supervisory experience in manufacturing/logistics
• 1+ years’ experience in manufacturing / logistics environment
• Preferred: 3+ years’ Supervisory experience in manufacturing / logistics environment
• Experience working in Union environment

Responsibilities

• Met production cost, schedules, and quality requirements through established manufacturing processes.
• Update daily / monthly metrics through data entry and shopfloor boards.
• Communicate updates with management and peers about people, quality, cost, responsiveness, and safety.
• Conduct daily handover with peer supervisor for shift transitions.
• Facilitate floor operations and remove barriers to meet objectives.
• Manage personnel, material, and equipment safely and effectively.
• Train, coach, manage performance, and handle payroll/timekeeping for assigned staff.
• Implement and maintain Operational Excellence initiatives.
• Comply with labor agreement terms and manage grievances.
• Comply with company policy and work assigned shifts.
