Job summary

Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center in Maine is seeking a supervisory facilities manager to direct physical plant operations, maintenance programs across buildings and grounds, and to lead a large workforce of trades and plant operation personnel.

Minimum five years in maintenance management, knowledge of building and mechanical trades and high‑pressure steam systems is required; Boilers Engineer’s License and prior managerial experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years experience in managing the maintenance and repair of a physical plant.
• Experience in building and mechanical trades and/or operation and maintenance of high‑pressure steam heating plants.
• Boilers Engineer’s License preferred.
• Prior managerial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operations conform to standards (JCAHO, DHS, Medicare, Medicaid).
• Respond to after-hours emergency calls and report to DDPC during emergencies.
• Direct grounds maintenance, snow removal, and transportation operations for safety.
• Direct, monitor, and inspect operation and maintenance of heating, water treatment, life safety, door access, and sewerage systems.
• Prepare plans and specifications for minor work; schedule maintenance, repairs and alterations.
• Coordinate with hospital departments to ensure surveillance system needs are met.
