Job summary

Feed Energy Company in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a production supervisor on a 2/2/3 shift schedule (6PM–6AM). The role includes leading plant leadership activities, planning schedules, enforcing SOPs, and ensuring safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; higher education preferred.
• 2+ years supervisory experience in related industry.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication; strong customer service skills.
• Ability to manage personnel, solve day-to-day concerns, and lead.
• Ability to follow written instructions, basic math, and operate a computer.
• Must have a valid Iowa driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Participates in plant leadership activities and attends coordination and planning meetings, including those outside of regular shift hours.
• Plans and organizes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet daily and long-term production goals.
• Enforces adherence to SOPs and leads training efforts to ensure team understanding of updates and changes.
• Leads daily pass-down meetings and ensures effective communication across shifts.
• Approves safe work permits for maintenance and contractors to ensure safe execution of non-routine tasks.
• Monitors operations, equipment, and automated systems to ensure smooth, efficient production.
• Maintains understanding of the entire production process to support troubleshooting.
• Oversees material movement, inventory accuracy, and blend preparation to meet specs.
• Reviews production data, meeting notes, and performance metrics to stay aligned with priorities.
• Investigates safety incidents and promotes a safe, compliant environment.
• Maintains visible floor presence and performs operator duties during gaps.
• Addresses front-line issues related to production, personnel, or safety timely.
• Supports customer complaint investigations and root cause analysis for PLI.
• Coaches, mentors, and disciplines staff per policy.
• Oversees onboarding and continuous training for operator development.
• Demonstrates company values in daily leadership and team interactions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
