Qualifications

• 5+ years of facilities management experience; healthcare facility experience preferred.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, hazardous material and safety management experience required.
• Professional licensure preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork, prioritization and multitasking abilities.
• Experience with business strategy implementation, cost controls and productivity improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for the Plant Operations department across PMC locations and Helen Porter.
• Plan, organize, direct and supervise Engineering/Maintenance activities to maintain facilities.
• Ensure compliance with Life Safety Codes and regulatory standards (CMS, OSHA).
• Coach, develop and evaluate Plant Operations staff; oversee performance.
• Collaborate with University of Vermont Health Network on facility-related projects and safety concerns.

Job Summary

The Plant Operations Director has overall departmental leadership responsibilities for building maintenance, Biomed and Hazardous Waste for all PMC locations and Helen Porter. The Plant Ops Director is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing and supervising assigned activities of the Engineering/Maintenance Department functions in maintaining the physical structures, Life Safety Codes, compliance with regulatory standards to include CMS, OSHA and standards for HVAC, medical equipment, electrical systems, utility systems and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition. Provides direction, coaching and performance management for the Plant Operations manager and technicians. Oversees all work provided by the Plant Operations department. Coordinates with other leaders across the organization and UVM Health Network to address and partner on all facility related projects, safety concerns and challenges. This position will also be a member of the University of Vermont Health Network Facilities Leadership Council.

Education

• College education in maintenance, or Technical Education in a building trade with State licensure is preferred.

Experience

• 5 years of Facilities Management experience necessary. Healthcare facility experience preferred but not required.
• Basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, hazardous material and safety management experience required. Professional licensure required.
• Thorough understanding of healthcare facility regulations preferred.
• Excellent communication, team building skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and comfort with business strategy implementation, cost controls, productivity enhancement, and operating in a politically sensitive environment.
