Job summary

The University of Vermont Health Network seeks a Plant Operations Director to lead building maintenance, Biomed, and Hazardous Waste across PMC locations and Helen Porter. You will plan, organize, and supervise the Engineering/Maintenance Department to keep facilities compliant with Life Safety Codes and CMS/OSHA standards.

Role requires directing operations, coaching managers and technicians, and coordinating with network leaders on projects and safety concerns.

Qualifications

• 5 years of facilities management experience required.
• Healthcare facility experience preferred but not required.
• Basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, hazardous materials and safety management experience required.
• Professional licensure required.
• Strong communication, teamwork and multitasking abilities.
• Understanding of healthcare facility regulations preferred.
• Ability to implement business strategies with cost controls and productivity improvements.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for building maintenance, Biomed and Hazardous Waste across PMC locations and Helen Porter.
• Plan, organize, direct and supervise Engineering/Maintenance Department activities to maintain facilities.
• Ensure Life Safety Codes and regulatory compliance (CMS, OSHA, HVAC, electrical, medical equipment).
• Coach and evaluate Plant Operations manager and technicians; oversee all department work.
• Coordinate with other leaders and UVM Health Network on facility projects and safety concerns.
• Serve as a member of the University of Vermont Health Network Facilities Leadership Council.

Job Summary:
The Plant Operations Director has overall departmental leadership responsibilities for building maintenance, Biomed and Hazardous Waste for all PMC locations and Helen Porter. The Plant Ops Director is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing and supervising assigned activities of the Engineering/Maintenance Department functions in maintaining the physical structures, Life Safety Codes, compliance with regulatory standards to include CMS, OSHA and standards for HVAC, medical equipment, electrical systems, utility systems and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition. Provides direction, coaching and performance management for the Plant Operations manager and technicians. Oversees all work provided by the Plant Operations department. Coordinates with other leaders across the organization and UVM Health Network to address and partner on all facility related projects, safety concerns and challenges. This position will also be a member of the University of Vermont Health Network Facilities Leadership Council.

Education: College education in maintenance, or Technical Education in a building trade with State licensure is preferred.
