Summary

Title: Plant Manufacturing Engineer Manager

ID: 414 - GBF

Location: Greensboro, NC

We are looking for dependable, honest and hardworking individuals to join our team. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, solid work ethic, and enjoys working with others to produce a quality product.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Plant Engineer will oversee machinery operation, optimize production processes, implement maintenance strategies, and ensure operational excellence to maintain product quality, minimize downtime, and uphold safety and cost-effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Monitor and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  2. Ensure all equipment and machinery are maintained and functioning properly.
  3. Develop and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance schedules and programs.
  4. Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve operational issues.
  5. Maintain facility equipment including boilers, HVAC systems, water, air, chillers, softeners, and fire sprinkler systems.
  6. Maintain building and grounds, including structure, roof, fences, and landscaping.
  7. Oversee spare parts inventory, both “stock” and “non-stock”.
  8. Manage environmental permits and serve as the point of contact for authorities.
  9. Design and implement automation and process improvement systems.
  10. Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
  11. Monitor compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  12. Maintain records of equipment performance, maintenance, and modifications.
  13. Manage small to medium capital projects, including upgrades and installations.
  14. Train technical staff on machine operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Textile Engineering, or related field.
  2. 5+ years as a Lead Plant Manufacturing Engineer, preferably in textiles.
  3. 10+ years in manufacturing as a Maintenance Engineer leading a skilled team.
  4. Strong understanding of textile manufacturing processes.
  5. Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
  6. Knowledge of Boilers, HVAC, PLCs, Building & Structures, and Environmental regulations.
  7. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and project management skills.
  8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & DEMANDS:

  • Primarily office and manufacturing environment with frequent computer use.
  • Standing and walking up to 80%; ability to bend, kneel, reach.
  • Occasional exertion of 50-100 lbs. of force.
  • Fast-paced work with interruptions; possible overtime and shift work.
  • Exposure to noise, heat, machinery.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Fluent in English reading, writing, speaking.
  • Ability to create materials and present professionally.
